My son is looking for some 65" TV's for his pub with a max budget of £500 per unit , this looks a good value option for £379

Opinions and recommendations welcome.

Bush 65 Inch 65QT24SB Smart 4K UHD HDR QLED TiVo Freely TV

Maybe best asking a mod to move the thread to the home cinema sub.

If he's looking to show sports on it I'm sure the punters would love a better quality tv of course, otherwise the bush is a budget TV that will do the job

I've just recently bought an LG 65UT91006LA 65-Inch 4K on Amazon for £449 and also a Hisense recently (50inch) with the Hisense 65 Inch 4K Smart TV 65E6NTUK on Amazon currently available for £389.

Both imho would give better bangs per buck than the Bush.

Bush is a British brand and has been owned by Sainsburys since 2016, when it bought Argos. I don't know what their TVs are like, but traditionally Bush has very much been a budget brand, and the level of support might reflect that. It would probably do the job though.

I would also look at offerings from LG, Samsung, TCL and Hisense (in that order), as they are within budget. However, buying British when possible is a good thing.

LG and Panasonic are my favourite TV brands. This may well be the best TV within your budget:

LG UT73 65" LED 4K HDR Smart TV 2024 - 65UT73006LA £407

Read some reviews to check the software runs OK, you get 5 years of updates. The likelihood is it will be a much better TV than the Bush, although I haven't read any reviews for the Bush. However, as said, buying British is good and the Bush is cheaper (although I doubt somehow it's British made).

Thank you.

I'm a fan of lg also and was just looking at this model below which seems to 2023 version, could you kindly give me view on this compared to your reccomendation.

Your LG will also be decent enough, but unless you particularly want to buy from Argos, then my LG is the next model year (2024), so for the sake of an extra £27 I would get that, as it will be newer and better.

Note both the LG's are 60Hz, whereas the Bush is 50Hz. It's very likely the LT's will be a better quality picture as generally superior tech. However the Bush does say QLED (Quantum dot) whereas the LG's are backlit LED. In theory then the Bush has a more modern display tech, but unless you actually go and look at them, how can you compare?

I think LG is a safer bet and makes sense for an extra £27, tx .
Personally, for £500 I would find a second hand well looked after LG OLED from AV Forums.
He needs 3 for his pub but a good idea ,tx

Oh I missed the pub part, wouldn’t use OLED in that case, sorry. Cheap LCD should be fine, they’ll get ruined anyway and will be run all day with static images.

Toshiba are about on par with Bush last I checked (although Hisense bought the rights to the name not all that long back, no idea if that improved things), and given its for pub use I'd not consider an older second hand OLED given it'll generally be sport playing and that tends to have a lot of fixed images on parts of the screen.

I'd consider getting it from somewhere like Richer Sounds as you get a 6 year warranty by default, they price match too. Although that might not be relevant depending on what insurance your son has for things.

This is worth a read:

Variants of the LG UT7 65" can be had for around the £350-400 mark from a quick glance, same with the Hisense A6N from the notable mentions section.

General use and sports events such as the football.

Yeah thought as much and to mirror replies above, I would be looking at favourable feedback when used primarily as a monitor for sports, rather than ALexa built in and all the extras that probably will not be used.
