Already have a HDD, need everythign else though and have around £650 to spend.

No idea what to get but been told to get Intel CPU as they are still better than AMD for now.

So what would you recomend for a semi decent games pc - apart from more money lol..

Slightly under budget but I think I've included everything that you need, the CPU is currently out of stock but when it or the E2200 comes back in they are what I'd suggest.

Cheers. If i take off the cost of the OS - is there anything worth upgrading on the list with the £59.99 extra?

If you don't need an OS then I'd spend the extra on an 8800GTS probably, if there is still any cash spare then maybe buy an E7200 instead of the E2180 - more cache and potentially even better overclocks.

If you're using a 64bit operating system then i'd drop the ram saving £30. Add the £60 vista cost and the remaining £5 of the budget giving £95 spending money.

I'd then get a 4gb of ram and a decent heatsink so you can clock up your chip and get the real benefit from the core 2's talents!

Something like the OCZ 4gb PC6400 kit: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-086-OC

and the Scythe Infinity: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=HS-006-SY&groupid=701&catid=57&subcat=821

That comes to just over £90.
