£650 build for mate

nice build, but i would look at a single 8gb stick as the board only supports 2 slots, so if you wanted 16gb or the 32gb max it supports then your going to need to buy a whole new kit.

also at that price point if your intending to game then a mech drive would be better over the ssd unless you can get a 120gb ssd and a 1tb hard drive.

this combination could be worked in the budget some how

I need to find out what he has that can be reused,.. point taken about the RAM, although that would drop it too single channel
 
He could spend a lot less (or nothing at all) on the cooler, for that chip and motherboard. Money could go towards 16GB RAM, or elsewhere (960 with longer warranty and a nice aftermarket cooler on it, or a 380X perhaps).

Also, stick with the 250GB SSD so he can put his fave games on it. The trend is games getting bigger (more textures etc). The more there is to load, the slower a mech drive feels. SSD copes better.
