A friend of mine has asked me to recommend a spec to him and as people on this forum have been so helpful in the past I thought I'd ask again.

They are looking to spend £650 on the tower only (have OS, Monitor etc), and are looking to build a PC for general use and gaming purposes (Crysis etc).

They are looking at smaller midi tower cases and liked the look of the Silverstone TemJin.

YOUR BASKET
1 x Silverstone TemJin TJ08B-E Midi Tower Case - Black (SST-TJ08B-E USB 3.0) £83.99
Total : £95.09 (includes shipping : £9.25).

Could anyone please help get the best value for money spec?

Another TJ08-E lover. YAY! I have the case myself and it's lovely, everyone should have one..

Anyway, a few important lessons. A modular PSU is a must.

Limit the number of HDD's, as this allows you to remove the HDD rack in the case improving airflow. I used one of these to store my SSD and HDD in the spare 5.25 bay: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-262-SV (i got the black version)

My suggestion:

Would normally pick a gigabyte motherboard but the one above and afew others seem to be voltage locked, which is rubbish for overclocking. This asus isn't. :)

Modular PSU, as above.

Cheaper 7850, Bargain price and a great cooler on it too..

3570k, for great overclocking. :)

A bit over budget but worth it.

Get another 11 posts and you can qualify for free shipping.

I thought it was 100 for free shipping? I think he'll order it himself so will pay for shipping.

Oh thanks I didn't realise that, can you tell this from the product spec?

Cheers mate, that is another option for an extra £10. I would do it, though I do realise my spec is already over budget..

it is, snips just can't count.. :)

Not really, have to do a bit more digging. Or just know it. Hehe.
That's why you come here right? :)

Yes it is :). Could you estimate a reasonable overclock that the spec above could achieve? How does this compare to voltage locked overclocks on the 3750k (I hope that made sense)?

You should get to 4.4 maybe 4.5.. With a bigger cooler (further out of budget) such as a d14 you can go a fair bit higher.

I have a d14 in my Tj08-e and I got to 4.7 with temps at 65.. So very happy.

on stock voltage the max overcoock is about 4.2 which isn't bad but for an extra £10 you get a bit of longevity.

If you know have your eyes on a bigger cooler let me warn you. The k2,TC14PE Dark rock (pro)(the dual tower obe :)) and silver arrow won't fit. Though the d14 does, a H80 will too..

I did the research so you don't have too..

Does this show at the front of the case or hide behind the 5.25 bay cover? You mentioned storing an SSD and a HDD in it, are they both 2.5 inch drives?

it has attachment holes so you can set it back from the front of case. I did this and then put the cases standard 5.25 cover back over it... You'll never know its there.

I have a 3.5 inch HDD and a 2.5 inch SSD. It can safely hold another SSD too.. Awesome bit of kit.

The way the case is designed its invisible when looking in from the side so colour is not really a important...

Just to be different I've used an alternate case......
Mobo is voltage locked but does include wifi

I had been considering this case as well, but am still saving up for my build. I might consider the TJ08-E instead once I see it physically.

Na, not as good as the TJ08-E.. :)
They seem to have their different advantages. Prodigy looks like it has a better setup for keeping the graphics card cool.
