650 vs 650Ti

Can some one tell what the actual difference is between the 650-650Ti cards and also is there a big difference between the branded Asus & generic cards please?

The 650 Ti has more stream processors & texture units, and it can come with 2gb ram ( although OcUK only stock 1gb models ) :

It's also 50-90% quicker depending on the game than the 650 :

The branded cards like Asus should run a bit cooler & quieter than the generic cards due to their custom coolers. If in doubt just google the card you're looking at for reviews.


At the moment though, the MSI 2gb 7850 for £89 is the card to get around the £100 mark. It also includes 2 free games :

I am only using a 22" iIyama screen so dont have to power a big monitor

What resolution does your monitor run at?

If you didn't like the MSI 7850, I'd still advise against buying a 1gb video card unless you aren't really gaming on it at all.

If it had to be a Nvidia card then the 650 Ti Boost is your next best option at £135, or a 660 at £140 ( slightly quicker than the 650 Ti Boost ).

I'm running a ti boost at the moment and have to say I'm quite impressed with the bang per buck. I really did expect a lot less from this card judging from what I had read. From what I can make out it runs on the same core as the 660 rather than the 650,s

For £89 the HD 7850 is a great deal to be fair l did manage to snag a GTX 650 Ti for £49 from the Clearance section this week.

Both are an upgrade iirc, though I'd recommend the 660 since it's slightly faster than the 650ti Boost :
