so i have the Corsair 650D case.

here how the fans are at the moment.

Front - in
Rear - Out
H100i 2x Fans - Out

Only 1 fan is throwing air in and half of it is covered with HDD Bays.. which i will try to move towards PSU next week..

Should i turn the Rear fan to intake so 2x fans are intake and 2x opposite?

also i wanted to replace the front fan with something else which has white led and around the forums BitFenix Spectre PRO 200mm White LED seems to be a popular choice.. that should fit in 650D without any problems right?

I asked this kind of question when I was setting up my 650D with a Corsair H100. I was told it would be best to create a positive pressure in the case. So, I have my front fan as an intake, my rear fan as an exhaust and my 2 top fans as intakes. My temps are great. I did have to buy 2 fan filters for my top intakes.

Other people have different solutions and ideas.

thanks.. forgot to mention that I've removed the top 200mm fan.

anyways I always thought it was good to exhaust hot air using top + Rear fans but in this case i have 1x in and 3x exhaust.. ;p

I've had plenty of cases in the past 2 years and the 650D must've been the coldest one I had even though it only has 3 case-fans.
Had my H100 as exhaust too.

What temps are you getting?

Top fans should not be intake, hot air rises, you would just be blowing it back in. Yeah, great idea, front and back should be intake and top is outtake, sorted.

the spectre pro will fit in the front.

get a filter for the rear fan and set it to intake.

temps will be similar but the system will accumulate less dust.

is there a recommended filter or any should be fine?

I will also be replacing Rear fan with Corsair AF120 Performance Edition.

also thought i post it in this topic instead of creating another thread.. what white LED would you recommend? NZXT or BitFenix Alchemy Premium?

Sorry but you're mistaken. You're right that hot air rises, but in a PC case with fans blowing, it simply gets blasted out. Here is an official video from Corsair showing how to mount their H series coolers in a 650D. If you skip to the 4:00 minute mark, he clearly recommends mounting your radiator fans to draw air in from the top of the case and exhaust it from the rear.

I have mine set up this way, and my temps are great.

Google Silverstone Magnetic Fan Filters. OCUK don't stock them. I have 2 on my case. You can place them with ease thanks to the built in magnets. They also have screw mounts if you want them screwed to your case.

Ok, the h100 or a 240mm rad are the one off occasions as they cannot be mounted on the back usually. Thanks for pointing that out.

Top fans as intakes? I assumed as heat rises they'd be best as exhausts. I'm looking to increase cooling of my fractal R4.

Nope. The benefit of having the top fans as intakes is that you draw in cool air from the room which helps take heat away from the radiator. This is better than taking hot air from inside the case and pushing that through the radiator. Forget about "heat rising". In a PC case with several fans operating, air simply gets blasted out through the exhaust/s.

if i change the Top fans to intake i guess i'll need filters for top as well?

was gonna change read fan to intake but i suppose i will do the following.

Front - Intake
Top x2 (H100i) - Intake
Rear - exhaust

what you think of that?

positive pressure inside the case i suppose?

if any of you uses h00i.. did you replace the default fans with Corsair SP120? cause if i get the filters on that i would need more pressure right?

anyone knows the Air Pressure generated by default fans?

edit: just had a look at some videos and notice that default fans are just fine. no need to spend more money ;p

Yip - I'll be changing to this set up.

I currently have front as intake and rear/top as exhaust. Causing some dust build up this way. Looking to change top/front as intake and rear as exhaust.

Need some filters first though for the top 120's.
