I have been lurking on the forum for awhile now and I think I have decided on my perfect WinXP setup:

Arctic Cooling T2 Pro Case
OcUK 2GB (2x1GB) PC2-6400 800MHz DDR2 Kit
Intel Core 2 DUO E6300 Retail -No more OEM's left :(
Gigabyte GA_965P_S3 (Socket 775)
Arctic Cooling Freezer 7
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 250GB SATA II
Pioneer DVR-111BK 16x16 DVD±RW Dual Layer ReWriter - (Black) OEM
Sapphire ATI Radeon X1950 Pro ULTIMATE SILENT 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail - (It's on special offer.)

Plus my current 1212m soundcard.

Total: £678

Any other recommendations? As one of my main uses for the system is to create music I need it to be quiet. The other is for gaming on my 19inch CRT.

When running two programs at the same time does the Core DUO CPU automatically assign one core for each program?

As this is my first SATA build, will I need to buy any leads for the HD and DVD drive?

Thanks for any help.

The Case comes with a silent 500w power supply. At that price i'm not sure how good it will be though. I was tempted by the Antec P150, but the price is a little steep.

That PSU will be a POS tbh.

The FPS Sparkle would do the job if the budget is tight. It at least has enough Amps @ 12V to handle the 1950 anyway

Have I picked the right motherboard for overclocking, or do I need the DS3 version?

Apparently they are the same, other than the DS3 has longer lasting capacitors.... (solid state ones). if you think your system will need to last you 6 years or something, then get the DS3. If only a few (say 3) then S3 will be fine.
