Hi guys,

Looking to build this in the next month

i7 6700k
Asus viii gene
2x8gb kingston ddr4 2666mhz
Evga superclocked+ acx2.0+ 980ti
Evga g2 650w PSU

I was wondering if it would be worth me getting the 750w version instead. Apparently all together they use about 450w at Max load but plan to overclocker both and in the future I plan to watercool the entire build. Will 650w be enough?

650w is more than enough. Power consumption will only be 350-400w so more than enough for overclocking and adding watercooling. One thing I would look into though is that if you are going for the i7 then it may be better to go with the 5820k on 2011v3.

I won't be going sli so that's fine. I have looked into x99 but its slightly more and to get a decent quad channel kit its more than I can budget. Don't fancy going 4x4 as I would like to add another 2 sticks in the future to go 32gb.

I'm coming from a phenom II x6 1090t so is more of an investment than the going haswell-skylake :)

With X99 you can go 4x4 and then add 4x4 later on, there are 8 DIMM slots on X99... So I'd imagine it's a pretty similar price to 2x8gb on Z170.
