hey guys

Recently my old pc died on me and now i need to build a new one. Ive already chosen the 6600gt as ive heard they're good midrange cards. Now which version of the 6600gt is better? the 128mb or the 256mb one? I know that the 256mb version will perform better but im on a really tight budget so i cant really afford the 256mb pci-e version. Just asking if theres a huge difference in performance between the 128 to the 256.

thanks

well the 6600gt ive seen on ocuk was £105 and the 256mb version was £130 and to be honest i really cant afford that difference. Does anyone have any links comparing the 2 memory versions because if the performance difference is great enough i'll think about getting the 256mb version.

BTW ive just seen the radeon x800 gto 256mb card. Its got 12 pixel pipelines and a 256-bit memory interface. Is this card better than the 6600gt 256mb? Its also £20 which is a bonus for me. Im not fussed if the card is ATi or Nvidia tbh. I play games like F.E.A.R, BF2, HL2 and COD2.

which card would be better?

for 105 quid for a 6600gt your making a big mistake. get a 6800nu such as the asus v9999 which is currently going for 105 inc vat. far better than the 6600gt and then there is the unlocking capabilities to have fun with.

As posted in your other thread for the games you mention a 256MB card would be better.

If you can stretch to this card then its definitely the best card of all the others mentioned ... PowerColor ATI Radeon X800 GTO16 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-055-PC).

This card allready has Sixteen pixel pipelines enabled & will hold you in better stead for the games you play, for a similar price.
