6600GT equivalent?

After a few of years of solid work my Shuttle system is due for retirement and I'm building myself a C2D system in a Silverstone SUGO SG01. The shuttle has a 6600GT card, and part from the 'vacuum cleaner' noise level, performance was perfectly adequate for me (not exactly a hardcore gamer).

As I'm a bit out of touch with the newer cards, I was hoping someone could advise on a suitable PCI-E replacement that give simmilar sort of performance but preferably without the noise. I don't have any particular brand loyalty so ATI or NVIDIA is fine, and I'd really like to spend somewhat less than £100. The one requirement I do have is that it be able to drive two analog monitors (I have 2*17" TFT's that only have analog inputs).

TIA

Unless you need dx10, the 8600gt isnt going to be as good as an old dx9 card. Depends wether you buy new or second hand

So you're saying the 8600GT wouldn't stuff the 6600GT?

I moved from SLi 6600GT's to an 8600GT.

The performance / price can't be snuffed at imo.

Thanks for the suggestions. Looking around the 8600GT can be had well within budget (probably ones with slower memory etc.), and for not that much more than new 7600GT's though DX10 support is certainly not a requirement.

Would prefer new tbh, had a couple of bad experiences with s/h cards in the past that suffered from artifacts when they got warm.

EDIT: Just found the 7600GS can be had for a bargain price, is this just an underclocked/crippled GT?

I just meant the gt isnt all that but if your buying new then go for it

The gs isnt a second rate designation, I have 6800gs and its as fast as a gt afaik, 6050 3dmark05 and 3047 3dmark06.

from what i know the 7600gs has nearly exactly the same specs as the 7600gt except its ddr3 ram which makes it faster. if its from the site with google checkout then ive just ordered that as it cheapest i could find
