Hi
I decided to overclock the 6600gt card and opted to increase the speed slightly from the default 500+900 settings, however when i play toca race driver 3 the screen is looking like a green chess board, with squares all over it.
I have then changed to the optimal settings and let the nvidia programme do that,it`s changed ito 528+962 i am strill having the same problems with the chessboard effect
I have now reset to default settings and the game runs fine.
Anybody please tell me why it was messing my graphics up with such a small overclock
Thanks
Steve

From my experience with my 6600gt those things are pushed to limit already.

I can get 534 x 1075 on mine from 500 x 1000 but that is only after 6 months of burning it in.
Before it would bsod or at least throw artifacts at me at anything above 520 and go a little dodgy at anything above 1040 memory.

Im guessing your problem is with memory, so try bringing that down a little. The nivida utility is really only doing educated guesses at what your card might be capable of. Remeber, the 6600gt comes with a rather poor cooler as standard and it wont be able to take overclocks normally anyway.

Thanks for all the replies
I tried on hl2 and it crashed,i`ve reset to defaults now and it seems to be running ok now.
I`m thinking of upgrading would it be worth upgrading to a 6800 from a 6600gt,i have about £200 to spend
Any advice would be a big help
Thanks
Steve

Update

Played toca 3 last night and noticed that the graphics are now starting to play up a bit, this seems to be happening when i`m driving on a 10 lap race.
My card is now back to default settings and still doing this,i hope i`ve not bust it!!!!
Thanks for your replies
Steve
