i have a Gainward GF 6600GT PP Ultra 1960PCX SLI Golden Sample...it's a very nice card indeed but i want to change the cooler on it to something more quieter .

Can someone give me a good silencer to use on this card please...the only 1 i can find is the Arctic Cooling Rev.2 nVidia 6

Is there any other silencer that can fit on the Gainward? or is this one Sufficient enough...and what power connection do i need for this silencer? is it just a 4 pin molex Connector straight from the PSU.....thanx in advance for any help.

i've just found a couple more coolers can someone give me some advice on these please.

1st one is the Thermalright V-1 Ultra VGA Heatsink...now is this easy to install and would it be a big improvement over the Artic cooler.

2nd cooler is the Zalman ZM-80D-HP Silent VGA Dual-Heatpipe Cooler

Now would i have to purchase a fan to go on this or would this be sufficient on its own.

Last one is the Zalman FS-V7 Fatal1ty Copper VGA Cooler

The Gainward is back @ stock settings and will never be overclocked again i just want silence.

Come on pps i need some help here....i've been reading up on some of these coolers....1 of them will cool my gpu but not the RAM heatsinks...1 will do both but it will be touching the cooler on the m/b

See here this is my m/b which is a Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-9 but mine looks different to the one on their homepage.

This is mine

As u can see on mine the northbridge cooler if thats what it is..is a lot different than the one advertised and my graphics card just fits right on top of it so all i want to know will i be ok with the Artic cooler or the Zalman...i can get the Artic cooler for £15 or the Zalman ZM-80D-HP Silent VGA Dual-Heatpipe Cooler for £22.

This is the one advertised on Gigabytes site

cheers for all the replies ;)

Wouldn't the Zalman ZM-80D-HP Silent VGA Dual-Heatpipe Cooler be quieter than this one though?

Yeah, but it also would have a very hard time cooling a 6600GT. The vf900 @ 5v will be silent and cool far better.

Cheers....any idea on the date of release of this new zalman? and will Artic thermal compound 2 be ok with this...i have a tube left so want to get rid of it ...or shall i invest in some silver 5?

Well i unplugged all my fans and all the noise i can hear now is this bloody thing on my m/b....the only thing i can do is to change my m/b..i bought the m/b from another dealer not from OCUK....when i asked for a m/b i asked for a silent one but he advised me to buy this board...so do u reckon i have a chance of exchanging it for another board if i was wrongly advised...i have spent a fortune on a new psu & cpu cooler and all it was is this little fan thats making all the noise.

i was lookin at this the other day....so unpluggin the fan and sticking another fan like this over the top is actually safe, it wont damage the board will it in anyway??

its a right noisy little bugga.

Nope, my temps have actually decreased

Well my northbridge runs off a 2pin connections o I couldnt use the same one. I use a 3pin connector on the motherboard, which I am sure you ahve 1 or 2 spare

Yeah my northbridge fan runs off a 3 pin connection.....what fans run off these tho i've only seen fans with molex connections.

Most do, akasa ambers would be a good choice (90mm) only about £5 and very quiet. I used an antec tricool 90mm so I can change the speed as I like
