6600GT Problem, Games Crashing

My graphics keep on crashing when I play games, this has only started happening today. I'll play for a few minutes without a problem, then the screen will freeze and loads of strange coloured dots will fill the screen in a sort of "patchwork" effect.

I have the latest Forceware drivers, I reinstalled them anyway just to be sure. My CPU temps are around 45C, mobo 22C, and at the last time I crashed my 6600GT was at around 60C. This has happened in both World of Warcraft and Half Life 2 so it isn't a problem with a particular game. I also took the card out, cleared all the dust away (it wasn't that dusty anyway) and put it back in, but to no avail, it still happens.

Does anyone here have a clue as to what is causing this problem? Is it simply a case of my card starting to die? I really hope not, the card isn't that old, my old GF4ti lasted years before it croaked. :(

Edit, it kinda goes a little bit like this when it happens: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v325/YeOldeMann/shot0000.jpg

Now I'm getting even more problems.

After trying to reinstall some old drivers to see if they work, the "display adapters" icon is no longer in the device manager list. When I tried to install the old drivers it said that they weren't compatable with my current hardware. In other words, my graphics card cannot be seen.

The thing is, if according to Windows I no longer have a video card installed, then why can I type this and browse the net? I have no onboard video...

I thought it could be the PSU not supplying enough power to the card, but after removing non-essentials like the sounds card, dvd drive, usb peripherals etc, it still doesn't work (the fan on the card is spinning which suggests to me that the card is indeed getting power).

So yeah, as the above poster said, it's most likely knackered, only had it 6 months so I'm just going to have to ring up the place I bought it from and ask for a replacement.

Thread over. :)
