After my recent purchase of my hd7870 and not being 100% on it, I've decided to opt for the 660ti. This will be my first green team card and after reading some reviews, it seems to compete fairly well with a 670 and its pcb is tiny so if I ever go mini itx, it will fit nicely.

Out of all the possible models of the660ti.....what would everyone recommend.

I fancy a msi power edition, sleek and its black and blue with 3 year warranty, but id prefer a UK based rma so it doesn't cost the earth and take forever if it does fail.

Gigabyte windforce x2?

The MSI is a wicked clocker because they enable overvolting (edging on stock 670 performance). But like you said, if it dies (witch its unlikely too) it would be a pain in the backside to RMA.

I got the msi one,

A lot of the reviews say its the most powerful of the bunch and the main reason I bought it was because of the good warranty and cooler.

If you read the sticky at the top of the forum the rma on the msi is between 10-14 days which is really good compared to a lot of the others.

Also I spoke to msi and they told me that overclocking using msi afterburner is covered by there 3 year warranty.

Drivers?

As for PhysX, it's barely used in any games. "Premium" is just a word people use to associate a high price with being worth it.

It happens to both companies. nVidia seem to be having issues with Borderlands 2 at the moment, it's running fine on my AMD card though.

That's nonsense a lot of people here are complaining of bad performance on AMD cards in that game with physx, whereas even non ti 660's can max it with physx high no problem.

If you want to compare AMD to nVidia performance in Borderlands 2, you obvious have to turn PhysX off all together.

I don't play BF3, but I'm pretty sure the performance is pretty much equal between the two.

A 660ti beats a 7950 in BF3. The game is optimized in favour of nvidia.

If I was buying today I'd get a 660ti. Mainly because I've been disappointed with AMD's drivers lately. I've got nothing against them as their price/performance is better and I know some people have no issues with the drivers.

That's why I never take the drivers argument seriously. For some reason it's regularly used as an nVidia pro, despite the fact that plenty of people have problems with both, and it's fairly easy to demonstrate various problems with both as there's loads of forums with people moaning about drivers from both AMD and nVidia.

I don't even think I've ever had any driver problems with any cards/GPUs I've had, be that AMD/ATi, nVidia or Intel integrated.

I never had problems with my 6950 but I do with my new 7870.

Tbf it's took AMD nearly a year to get BF3 performance correct with their drivers.

I've played it from launch without performance issues on 6950>70 CrossFire.

There's obviously going to be individual system specific problems for some, but it's far from a blanket statement in regards to AMD that you are implying in most threads you post in recently, as problems are apparent with individual Nvidia setups too.

Do you not wonder why the Nvidia forums aren't back on line since the 'hack' back in July considering there is no financial details held in it?

If your 78 is performing that bad, dsr it and get an overpriced 660ti instead of a £220 7950, or you can find out what the problem is and try to rectify it, the 78 series is by far the most popular gpu's this time round due to the price/performance ratio, someone here will be able to help you sort out the problem/s if you post a thread.;)

:)
