So I had my 660ti for a cople of days now and I am having a lot of games randomly shutting down.

I thought it was my windows at first so I reinstalled windows but still getting a lot of issues with game just randomly closing down.

I was googling for the drivers and came across a few threads with people having same problem when using latest drivers.

I could just do with a bit of advice whether the 660ti latest drivers are actually good/bad or is it something else in my new rig and what it possibly might be.

Thanks.

Hi Imginy,
Hard to say as the card is so new but I would like to think it is just down to drivers.

When you say 'games just randomly closing down', does that mean ".exe has stopped responding" or your computer crashes (restarts). If you could list your rig, this may help and also use the 304.87 drivers for now as reading up, these seem to be the best (for some anyway).

I have seen quite a few reports of driver problems on the 660ti with the drivers that came on the disk (specially for 660ti). Most recommend changing to the 304.87 drivers as Gregster suggested.

Yes the games are crashing and then I get messages like "exe not reponding"

The driver I am using is 305.68 I think it auto updated its self to this one.

Whats the easiest way to downgrade drivers?

Thanks for your help.

is your cpu-nb still at 2600? what voltage are you running it at 1.175 ?
Save your current overclock in your bios then reset the board so its a default 960t and then see if the games are still crashing, That way it rules out system vs gpu.

Also are you running windows 7 64 bit or 32?
My system used to crash in 32 bit mode with graphic settings at high or above, due to running out of ram

Deffo sounds like driver problems.

click here for Win 7 64 bit drivers.

click here for Win 7 32 bit drivers.

Those are the 304.79 drivers which are reported by other 660TI users as being the best. Once installed, if Nvidia tries to update, cancel it.

Thanks I seem to have it sorted out now after reinstalling all the drivers and turning down the cpu and adding some extra cooling to my case.

All the problems seem to happen when I was messing with the aa settings in nvidia control panel so not sure if it was that or my cpu getting to hot but either way its working now so thanks.
