660TI or 670?

If it is between those two cards, then I would say spend the extra on the 670. However, you should also consider the 7950 as mentioned above, as that gives the same performance as the 670 at 1080p (in fact much better performance than the 670 if you are using large resolutions) and can overclock hugely- at the same price as the 660Ti.

I will be playing on a 1920x1200 resolution and going to be overclocking it also. According to that website you linked, the 670 outperforms the 7950 w/boost on the type of games I will be playing on like Battlefield 3, Portal 2, Skyrim so I don't see where you guys are saying the 7950 performs the same/better

When both are overclocked, the 7950 scores around the same as the 670 (Check out the 3DM11 thread- the 670's can't match the fastest 7950's). At large resolutions, the 7950 is quite substantially faster due to its 384 bit memory interface, as opposed to the 670's 256 bit.

Except that I won't be playing at large resolutions and that is the only thing AMD does better than Nvidia

I don't think you will be disappointed with the GTX 660Ti, the GTX 670 isn't worth the £80 or so extra IMO.

HD 7950 is best 'bang for buck' at this price point.

Just a note, those benchies were done pre-12.11 where AMD cards got a boost. the 7950 is now on par with the 670 in BF3, even at 1080/1200p

The point was, why pay £70-80 extra for a 670, when the 7950 matches it at 1080p and beats it at high resolutions (may not be relevant right now, but always nice to know in case you ever did get another monitor or went for 1440/1600p). Unless you need Nvidia specific things like 3D vision, the 7950 is the better choice, especially when it is overclocked. As mentioned above, 12.11 drivers gave AMD cards a big boost which is not reflected in those benchmarks. The 7950 is at least on par with the 670 now at 1080p (and of course much better at resolutions higher than that).

660Ti is not good bang for buck if you want to play high settings and/or with AA.

If you play without these or lower settings it's fine but for a £250 card I'd want more. Either save more for the 670 and get a reference type model on the 680 PCB with the 680 cooler or get a 7950.

thing is with 670's at around £300 and MSI 680's at around £350, if you're gonna dump £300 into a gfx card, might as well save £50 more and get a 680.

nvidia's pricing has been really weird with the 600 series :S

lowest (decent) gaming card @ £180 lulwat?

Only 5% between 670 and 680 so not really worth any extra. While overclocked the difference between 660Ti and 670 is well into double digits percentage point differences as it gains more from overclocking.

660ti vs 670

some older console ports like alien vs predetor that chew on your memory bandwidth will be a lot better on a 670 say 25% better.

other games like borderlands 2 for example the 660ti and 670 are the exact same.

If your aim is 1080p 60fps max settings and vsync on then I think the 660ti with a little OC is plenty powerful enough for most games as long as you don't mind the odd frame drops.

I find my overclocked msi 660ti plenty powerful enough for me :)

Oh definetely better Overclocked :)

I had lots of issues with sound over hdmi with my amd cards which is one of the main reasons I changed over.

Oh and the other one PHYSX :):):)

Got myself a 460 and GT 440 (PNY Refurbs from OCUK when they were on offer) so I may try and set up hybrid Physx with the GT 440 so I can experience that Physx goodness :)
