660x2 or a 670?

On my wf 670 i hit 2106, but i got pretty lucky with this card as it hits 1320/7586. But theres an almighty price tag on the wf 670's.

I benched at 1250/1900 which would have not been a problem except for the dodgy cooling on THAT batch of MSI 7950s.

2200+ IIRC but don't really count it as it was glitchy due to the temps and I was surprised it completed the run :D

Seen a lot of dodgy msi cards lately on here. 2200 is pretty decent, think ive only seen a couple of 670's on here hit those sort of scores. Ive actually considered changing this card for a 7950 a few times. Something like the IceQ, it would then open up the option of xfire with decent exhaust cooling.

I feel lucky to have hit 2200 with mine when benching :D. I hit 2100 with my everyday clocks.

670 is more than enough for 1080p. :)

I see you've got a WF already. I had a WF with a reference card (680s) and noise/heat combination was fine. The 680 reference cooler is actually pretty decent so a 670 with one of these on (e.g. EVGA SC) is a good option. Probably better option then taking a hit on selling your 670 and I also believe multi GPU is generally slightly more robust with nVidia over AMD. (very marginally)

The 7950 has more vRAM and a faster bus width (3GB 384Bit vs 2GB 256Bit)

The 7950 is also the same performance as the GTX 670, faster at very high res and sometimes at 1080P with AA maxed out because of that faster bus.

And its cheaper, there is every reason to go for the 7950, that is, unless you specifically want Nvidia.

Funny that. Mostly because my 670 came clocked out of the box to perform the same as a 680 and I'm pretty sure that the last time I looked a 7950 was miles behind a 680.

I would almost agree with you if there were no factory overclocked 670s but the fact is there are, and, most of them come that way.

I couldn't even get my 7970 at 1200mhz to perform as well as my 670 in the benchmarks I ran.

So rusty be ready for questions on overclocking when it arrives xD

Ha ha. OK mate.

You've been away too long :D.

Basically now (while overclocked):

680/7970 = 100%
670/7950 = 95%

There's next to nothing in it.

Well when I bought my particular card (Palit Jetstream) I read the Guru3d review and it was mostly beating the 7970 and sitting right up the 680s posterior.

So unless AMD have parted the red sea and balanced a golden cabbage on their head with new drivers I can't see how much has changed tbh.,
