6670 Graphic Driver Issue

Hi there,

I've purchased from the website several times so thought I'd post my issue here in light of some help. I have built a new system based on parts I was given for a friend and I am repeatedly having an issue that I cannot seem to fix.

Specs:

  • A10-5800K 100W + Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO
  • ASRock FM2A75 Pro4
  • MSI ATI Radeon HD6670 1 GB DDR5
  • Kingston HyperX 2,133MHZ 16GB
  • Cooler Master 720w M2 Silent Pro

I've installed windows on a 64GB SSD drive removing the other drives first, did it without the 100mb partition and booted into Windows fine. I have done some things like disable hibernation and installed the board drivers (current ones from ASRock). I can use the computer fine prior to installing the graphic card drivers which then result in a constant crash and repairing itself without a specific warning.

Currently it is running brand new crucial 1333MHz RAM 16GB until the new RAM comes tomorrow and the crucial RAM runs fine in the other rig of similar set up.

I installed the latest drivers to no avail either and I am unsure what to do. BIOS is updated to v1.70 and even a fresh install of Windows 64Bit does not help (drivers are correct for 64Bit).

I'm unsure what to do other than a rebuild (thermal paste which is antec 7 diamond has been redone to ensure not an issue and added a little bit which the CPU runs around 21-27C idle). Once the rebuild is done with the new RAM I am convinced the same issue will happen so unsure what to do as it only seems to be when the driver is installed. The clocks are all default too on the card.

Cheers for any help.

Edit: I have taken out the 6670 and installed the driver without any crashes so far, I'll run it for an hour using the VGA onboard which will mean a card or driver issue with the card.

I have put my unbranded 6670 2GB one from the other rig into the system and it runs fine, could someone advise whether it is a graphics card issue or whether the board should work with that card (the using both onboard/offboard that is) and as I bought it off eBay do I contact the guy for a refund or to MSI?
