670 GTX Concerns?

i took the plunge for the Cheap gigabyte 670 GTX on deal a few days on here.

i've now read reports of stuttering off more than 1 source, this is starting to concern me. futher more i've read a 'rumour' that nvidia may be recalling all 600 series however nvidia have denied this fact.

so here i am asking current 670 users; have you noticed/had any problems with your card?

i also heard that the suttering only occurs with V-sync on which would be perfect as i never play with it on anyway?

p.s. i would test myself however i'm busy til 4th of june to actually hook it up; bought it as i saw the 670 prices were rising & because it was such a great deal.

I suffered from stuttering in certain games and sent my card back today as it just isn't suitable.

HOWEVER

Ignore reports and find out for yourself, play the games you would usually play and see if it effects you. If so you might have a problem on your hands if not it is someone else's problem.
AFAIK it is just that, a rumour.
V-Sync on/off/adaptive whatever, I still stuttered and I always thought it was down to the fact that the boost clock was dynamically changing during gameplay.

TL: DR If you have one, use it under your normal circumstances and see if you have problems, don't get stressed because someone else has an issue.

Edit: Just saw your your edit, in that case then you are best off listening to other people! Strange hey, I found Fifa 12 was notoriously bad on the 670 I had, Tribes was jumpy, when the gameplay was just surfing and shooting it was ok but as soon as an explosion went off the boost clock changed the frequency, it stuttered, explosion finished frequency reverted back. Somewhere in that great 670 thread there are a few posts saying what games people are suffering in, World of Tanks was similar but the likes of BF3 and Skyrim were just beautiful to play.

It is entirely possible it could be fixed by a driver issue in June, though I don't fully understand the situation myself because I never thought it was down to v-sync and I can play with GPU-Z open and can see when I stuttered it was the same time the card was changing frequency and that is down to the hardware?

sigh... shouldn't of changed from ATI. :(

i did intially order a 7950 but then cancelled when i saw 670 benchmarks. damn it.

I'll test my card when i get it.

Plenty to read about it here:

Yes, there is a problem there can be no denying, but from what I gather it's more pronounced on older titles as the gpu usage doesn't ramp up, whether or not it affects you in the titles you play is another thing, only way to find out is to try it when you get it.

Nvidia are aware and say they will attempt to get a fix out in June iirc, but there are still 560 users still suffering from the TDR bug from last year, hopefully though it will be fixed.

The recall is pure speculation imo although, a few Evga's have been recalled:

Agree with the others 100%, try it out, if it effects games you play then DSR it.

Getting rid of my 670 for this reason, but I would still encourage others to invest in the card, its a very very fast card.

I have a win force 3 on the way & this worries me. Anyone having problems with everquest, diablo 3 or guild wars 2, with this card, as that's what Im playing right now?

I ordered it to replace xfire 6870, that are starting to get really noisy.

After All the research I thought this would be the perfect replacement but this talk of stuttering & degradation scares me.

I play Diablo 3 and GW2 beta and had no stuttering with a 680. There's a whole different issue on GW2 of graphics cards not being used but that's an engine problem.

The problem with this perceived stuttering issue is that it gets more traction because only people with the issue post about it so it seems like it affects proportionately more users than it actually does. It's affects a small amount of people. No point worrying until you get your card at all.

Or a lot of people are not speaking out about it, this sort of issue has so many variables we won't know for another month how bad it really is.

Why wouldn't people pipe up if theres a problem,as if they don't it can't be addressed. Therefore it can't really be that big of a issue IMHO

even though being a self confessed ati fanboy i would say to people with a 6 series nvida not to panic and give nvida chance to come out with some new drivers, its still early days for these cards

Can you still return the card for a refund after two months? What happens if OCUK test the card and don't get stuttering with their system/application?
Wouldn't be happy if this ends up the the non-fixable 560 issues...

I'm probably speaking from ignorance... but if the stuttering is caused by the auto-overclock feature, can't you turn it off and manually overclock the nuts off it anyway?

No, and Nvidia have said it'll never be turned off as it's a feature of the card.
