Currently running 670 SLI which is great, but struggles slightly when I max out the like of ACBF.
I game at 1440p and appear to max my VRAM in most of the latest titles.

Unsure if it is worth it to pay the premium or wait for now?

Plus, i find SLI is great 90% of the time, but slightly annoying for games that dont support it like COH!

Im in the same predicament I have same cards in SLI and same res as you. Ive decided to wait, as I think the 780Ti still aint good enough with 3gbvram and Ill end up upgrading 12 months down the line.
If you not a fanboy try 290 CF don't bother with the 290x as they are a bit expensive when you wont really notice the difference. Especially when you could overclock them to 290x speeds. Plus its got 4gb VRam and 4k support if you got deep pockets.

I would preorder 2 of these 290 which will be out in 17/01/14. That's if you can wait?

Same thoughts here, 4 GB would def be preferable. AMD card used to be notoriously bad in Flight Sim X. Does anyone know if this is still the case? I may go back over to AMD.

Pah,, im sold. Found a Windforce 78ti for £520. Plus I found a review that shows the difference in performace I will gain in COH2 and Rome TW (two games I have a ctually put off playing due to the dire unsupported SLI performace).

I can't be bothered waiting until late 2014 for the new generation only to find they are vastly overpriced, and has unpteen games with problems with SLI between now and them. SLI is great.... when it works! (Texture problems in BF4 are shocking, how can the have such a problem in a flagship titile!!)

Main reason I upgraded from my gtx 580 SLI setup to a 780ti SLi setup was because of the extra vram needed for gaming at 1440p

Like the last game I played was using over 2300mb of vram at 1440p (crysis3) ;)

I moved from sli 670 to a single standard 780. Im only at 1920x1200 but even then some newer games are close to the vram limit. Max fps are down a bit yes but minimum and average are pretty similar. Ill be adding another 780 soon and probably a 2560x1440 monitor so the extra ram will be handy.

have you not got the 4GB 670's and do you find your maxing vram an issue, I only ask as my gts 450 1GB always ran at 99% vram usage but it was still silky smooth. I have a feeling that Vram being maxed isn't a problem or the cards with lower Vram are happy running maxed because they are designed too.

I would only upgrade IF that maxing of Vram caused an issue such as insanely low fps which would typically be associated with running out of Vram.

Have you seen the state of the rest of the game  how on earth a flagship title by a big name publisher and an established developer ended up in that state I can only imagine (and its not due to being rushed to beat COD tho that doesn't help - its flawed at every level from the earliest stuff).

While not quite the same situation as you - I upgraded from 2x max clocked GTX470s in SLI to a single GTX780 GHZ, mostly due to BF4 and couldn't be happier - absolutely no regrets and thats with considering Maxwell is just around the corner now. (EDIT: Well I regret buying BF4 but thats another story).

I have the 2GB 670's

I should have my 780TI on Tuesday so looking forward to seeing how it compares, and finally being able to play COH2 and RTW

I bought an ASUS 670 4GB in the September sales, really want to go SLI but I see they have been discontinued so what is my best bet now?
You should be fine adding any other 4gb gtx 670. The cards will run at their own idependent boost speeds.

I had 2gb 670's before and now using a ghz edition 780. The sli setup was a good 10 fps faster on average frame rate in my case. If I had 4gb cards, I wouldn't have done it though. I do miss the sli setup as two cards look nuts.

I don't feel need the get another 780 though as this card is doing the job good enough.

One of the things that convinced me to go to the single 780 over 2x slower cards (even if they were faster overall in SLI) - the latest version of the Frostbite engine as used in BF4 and will be used in several upcoming titles, doesn't seem to work well with multiGPU at a low level - while thats due to the engine being poorly coded it still means end users will likely not have as good an experience with multi GPU in games that use it unless the 3rd party devs using it to build games on patch up the cracks in their specific game.

It does seem to be the latest version of frostbite that has issues with sli. I stopped playing bf3 a while back. Concentrated mainly on bf4. Went back onto bf3 one evening and with the 670's the game ran flawlessly. Bf4 just felt clunky despite averaging 80fps on max settings at 1920x1200.

Hi all,

I wanted to follow up on this thread to share my experience of the Gigabyte Windforce 780 Ti, that was to replace my 670 SLI.

Not a happy story unfortunately. I was expecting the performance to be on par with my 670's with the added bonus of better performance in non SLI games.

First thing I did was run some benchmarks.
3D Mark 11 with my 670's was 15,000, with the 780Ti 13,000!

I was pretty shocked with this score as a few reviews had shown it to be much better. Not one to get hung up on benchmarks I tried some games. The non SLI title were slightly better, but not my earth shattering amount, and SLI titles were definitely sub 670 performance with BF4 suffering the most.

So never mind, time to overclock to bring it up to par. No go. After starting at 100+ on the core, I had to back right down to 20+ on the core to have anything stable. Needless to saw this did squat for performance.

Add to that annoying coil whine and a click fan, its on its way back.

Lesson learnt... if it isn't broke, don't fix it.

Hope this helps others with 670 SLI and thinking of a 780Ti.
