670 Vs 680?

Nothing, nor would you go for the 670 you posted. Go for either cheapest or a custom cooler at a decent price.

670 is far better value than 680 at the mo

680 is the best card on the market at the moment IMO but for the price you pay for the 670 and the performance difference between the 680 and 670, the 670 becomes a no-brainer. Even if you have the money for the 680.

I recently saw a benchmark that showed the windforce to be around 5fps behind a stock 680.

Thats not bad for a saving of nearly £90.

Plus its quieter due to custom vs stock cooler.

Agreed that the 670 is better value but as a 680 owner, you won't need a custom cooler with the 680 as the stock cooler is amazing as it is - extremely cool and quiet.

No so for the 670 stock cooler which isn't nearly as good by many accounts, so worth bearing that in mind too.

TBH a custom cooler 670 like a Windforce or Diirect CU will likely be your best bet in terms of price, performance and convenience.

.

the EVGA isn't quite the same "stock" cooler as the other reference ones... it's marginally bigger and mine does 1201mhz @ 65C at 60-65% fan setting which is barely audible

will also do 1280 on full fan but that is a touch noisy

roll on water cooling in the next few weeks

I would.

While not de-crying the noise levels from stock 680 coolers, noise is subjective to an individual, what's quiet for you may be perceived in a different way by others.

I have never had a quiet stock/AIB custom cooled gpu in my puff, they have been annoying of some sorts, what's quiet for one is a pita for another, especially when you take into account the lengths folks go to have as noise free a PC as possible.

I agree with tommybhoy, I have never known a reference cooler which I would consider quiet, even under only a mild over clock. All my fans in my pc are 120mm minimum and low rpm,so I notice a whiney small fan quite easily.

Yes, at idle, I have 2 Venom's running on a 920 Khuler@silent combined with 2 AC extremes on auto which are inaudible at this setting.

While sitting at the desktop, the only noise I hear in my P-280 is a very slight buzz from the pump which is still an anoyance(verging on noise OCD syndrome:eek:), the rest of my Venoms turn on@load.
