Since the release of Flight Sim 2020, I've started seeing my 6700k @4.5 throttling down over highly built up areas because the temps are hitting 100c. None of my other games over the last 4 years have ever hit those temps! It's currently being cooled by a H100i using 2 Bequiet fans in pull configuration (set to 100% speed in the BIOS) and I'm wondering whether this is a healthy state of affairs (!) or whether I should be considering switching it to air cooling. If so, what would people recommend these days to fit a Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7?

My 2070 Super is running at 99% throughout but only showing 70c temp and I think the case has decent airflow.

doesn't look right. H100i should keep things under control
unless you are running 1.4V+

does radiator itself get warm?
try replacing thermal paste and reseating the block

Cheers guys, if you are telling me that a H100i should be able to cope, then I'll try re seating it. I've got the rad mounted in the top of the case as well so I'll try running for a bit with the case lid propped open and see what results I get. It was an OCuk package with preset MB settings, so I don't know what the voltage settings are at the moment; I'll check that as well.

I'd imagine reseating & new paste should help as mentioned above.

My 6700k was coping okay with FS2020 on High Settings at mid 50's with a H60
