6700K v 7700K price difference

Which one are you going to buy?

It wouldn't make any sense to get the 7700K given that it is supposedly equivalent to the 6700K, clock for clock, but the 7700K is clocked 200MHz higher by default and might OC higher.

Here's my basket so far though, but still thinking it over. Not sure on the CPU because I like to mess around with virtual machines, video production and animation, photoshop, that type of stuff; so Ryzen is good for that, but Intel is better for gaming. Really wish I could get DIMMs bigger than 16GB, cause more RAM helps with render times and on Mini-ITX I'm limited to just 32GB of RAM at the moment. Not sure on which 1080Ti as I'm still deciding whether to watercool or not, plus with Vega announcement imminent, prices might be about to be affected so I think I'll hold off until then. Besides, it's not like I have cash burning a hole in my pocket.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £2,548.53
(includes shipping: £12.60)

It would make absolute sense to go with the 7700k - I was only jesting when asking which one to go with :p

I'm an idiot. I wrote it the other way round in my head, or in my editing I ended up writing it backwards by accident. Whatever. I meant to say it would make no sense to get the 6700K, naturally.

Consider a smaller m.2 or ssd plus normal hdd £569.99 seems a massive ammount on an m.2 alone

The point, I guess, is it to keep all program files (including games), OS, and files currently being worked on on the M.2. I can keep stuff that's not being worked on, on external or network drives. Still just considering everything, it's certainly an option to get a smaller M.2 and a larger 2.5" SSD for extra space, possibly even a dirty old spinning drive :P. I'd rather have just one internal volume though to be honest... hmm... trade-offs. I'm definitely not rich. This is an absolutely massive purchase for me. There's lots to think about, but I won't be pulling the trigger anytime within the next week or two anyway, so I got time.

no worries I have that case.

It's so pretty! I'm jealous. I wanted something like the Ncase M1 or the Dan A4, but then I saw the Lian-Li Q37 and I fell in love. It's a lot bigger than either of those, but I think I just want the prettiness now. It also means it'll have better airflow and temps than either of those cases I hope. Possibility for watercooling as well.

that case won't take a tall card like the EVGA FTW mind you.

Are you sure it won't fit btw? I just checked the numbers. The Lian-Li website states that the case will take cards up to 310mm in length. The EVGA website says the card is just under 300mm. It should fit, no?

What's with the crazy prices. It costs fewer dollars (direct from EVGA) than it does pounds, here on OcUK. What? I guess the dollar price is before sales tax, but still. Damn. Anybody going to America soon? :p
