only wanting to game and not going to do any video encoding etc. might oc my cpu a little bit with a corsair h60 cooler,
there isnt much difference gaming wise between them right, hardly anything? and the h60 will ok for standard overclocking?
thanx
forgot to say il be running 16gb ddr4 at 3200mhz
motherboard will be the Z170A Krait Gaming Intel Z170 (Socket 1151)

TL;DW: The i7 improves minimums and frametime stability a fair bit, but has little effect on average framerate. Whether you feel it's worth the extra money is entirely down to you of course. Digital Foundry still recommend the i5 on a price/performance argument, although the 6700K has come down in price a little since then.

A H60 should be fine for a decent overclock on either.

thanx man, thats exactly what i was thinking :p think il get the 6700k ordered then, should be so much better in games than my amd 8350 :D

I just upgraded to the 6700k from a 3820k. It has given a significant improvement. You won't be disappointed. It also overclocks to 4.6GHz easily on air.

I don't think it's the games that make use of the extra threads. It's windows doing it (from 8 and up).

But yea, there is a lot more of a difference than there used to be. Even on old i5/i7s.
