680 or 7970

Me too, would be nice if someone had both setups. I'm still looking for a way to get active 3d on my tv at 60hz, not fussed now whether its ati or nvidia, can't stand 30fps limit.

Well im a nvidia man my self but i would go for the 7970 at this time as you can oc it and over preform the 680. But the reason i would go with the 680 would be for the 3D..

As gregster says, passive 3D is awful, not seen 3D on a 7970 but i have experienced passive 3D and it looks terrible compared to 3D vision, if 3D isn't an issue for you then there really isn't anything between the two cards.

the one warning I'd give regarding 3d is that nvidia 3d vision (active 3d) gives me a raging headache after 30 minutes, passive 3d doesn't, but then BF3 is the main game I'm playing at the mo and it sucks with 3d either way so I mostly only use 3d for movies

for my next monitor / setup 3d isn't even a consideration I really don't care for it for gaming

My 3dtv also game me headaches when using active glasses, but I found out it was the flicker of the low energy bulbs I had lighting my room. Replaced them with normal filament bulbs and the headaches went away.

Yes, i have heard of people experiencing headaches with 3D vision and to be fair there are also some people who have problems with passive 3D, i for instance can't see passive clearly, it looks fuzy to me.

Agree with bf3, i don't like it with 3D vision either, but only because i can't max the game out in 3D....sli here i come.

+1

Also agreed that BF3 is no good for MP 3D as my K/D ratio would be worse than it is already :D

I do absolutely love my Asus VG278H with built in 3D vision 2 though and this really has made gaming interesting again (I seriously was getting bored of gaming).

3D does effect some people though and it is a good idea to try before you buy if you can or try the colour 3D (can't remember the name) with a cheap pair of glasses for 50p
