680 or not

It'll downclock or overclock depending on how gpu intensive the game is. Very clever, very useful and it can save on power.

and heat - my 580 on it's max overclock seemed stable but after anywhere from 90 mins to 2 hours it would lock up and crash - by not running flat out aaaalll the time, the card will be cooling itself down when it's able to and only running at that maximum overclock when it needs to to get it through a rough patch, the rest of the time it runs cooler and quieter

Trouble is i was looking at the samsung deal, the 120hz 23", whichever the tag number is.

The 3D doesn't interest me, but i've read that if you're on a 120hz screen and running lower FPS, as you would on triple display, it can look... wrong? (i forget the adjectives used).

I got myself a benq 120Hz monitor and 3D vision just over a year ago & there is no way I'm ever buying a monitor with less than 120Hz again it's just so much smoother even simple things like dragging windows about on the desktop it's a massively noticeable difference imo. The 3D vision kit though was a waste of money honestly I used it a fair bit at first but as the novelty wore off I used it less & less & now I hardly ever use it, bit of a gimmick tbh not nearly enough decent made in 3d films (converted ones usually give me a headache) and I won't use it for online FPS games because it really doesn't help you at all dragging your frame rates down, probably ok with a beefier card but not worth spending on that for 3D imo.
