680 sli stutters

I seem to get stutters on bf3.
Cant seem to figure out why.
Should i be using V-Sync or Adaptive? does it make a difference.
Its really bugging me

What kind of stutter? constant?

Drivers 304.79. I'm using adaptive atm.
Movement stutter and its pretty constant

Go to the global settings in the NVIDIA control panel and turn off vsync.

What adaptive vsync ? Or completely off ? As the 27" dell is only 60hz
I'll get screen Tear as the cards push out between 115-147 on bf3 at ultra

I would sooner have screen tear than stutter especially in BF3. Turn Vsync off and see if that helps. If you are still not happy then deffo do what Optima suggested.

Can I use the evga tool? What's Osd? Part of afterburner?

On Screen Display (osd)

1) enable OSD
2) Create a keyboard shortcut to OSD
3) Restart afterburner
4) Running OSD will put an app called "riva tuner" in your system tray, its the afterburner icon but has a purple 60 on it
5) Open riva tuner, go in options (click on the wrench) , enable frame rate limiter at 60
6) combine fps limiter with in game vsync
7) No microstutter
8) CCC 12 will have this feature built in apparently

I am not sure on this (No SLI for me yet).

I use the rivatuner limiter like that to limit my fps to 120. vsync sucks.

Reset your Sli brige.. I replaced it after Sli stutter probs and it fixed it, not sure if it was loose or broken but ok now..

Open the console with ~ and type in these two commands:

RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 1
RenderDevice.TrippleBufferingEnable 0

If that doesn't do anything for you, change it to:

RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 1
renderdevice.forcerenderaheadlimit 1

Or you can manually add it:

Open notepad and paste this into it and save it as "user.cfg" inside your "program files/origingames/battlefield3" (or wherever you installed it)folder:

RenderDevice.ForceRenderAheadLimit 1
RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 0

Or

RenderDevice.TripleBufferingEnable 1
renderdevice.forcerenderaheadlimit 1

Welcome to multi gpu setups.

For AMD using vsync removes micro stutter, for Nvidia it seems to add it for some reason.

I hear you on screen tearing, its horrible. When i had xfire i used to use vsync and then limit fps to 1 below 60hz so you removed some of the mouse lag. This also helped slightly with stutter.

Tommys advice there is solid, do that its what i used to do.

When i went back to single card (7970) bf3 became as smooth as my chin after a good shave.

When I typed in the first thing you told me to type it came up with unknown command. Any ideas why????

You must have typed it wrong.

You don't have to use caps, but you need to use full stops where applicable.

If you copy exactly what he wrote, you cant go wrong.

Try forcing max rendering of frames to 2 in nv control panel, this has always sorted the stuttering for me in bf3.

+1 This. Best advice. I had horrible stuttering/tearing issues until I made a user.cfg file with those two commands. Really smooth now and no need for v-sync.

It's literally the best thing to complement 2 top-end cards for first person shooters. Create the file above and make sure it's saved as file type: "all types" and not as a text file.

The first 2 commands are what I used and they will probably be your best bet aswell, if you're not happy change the forcerenderahead to 2.
