Hello there, i have fitted a Arctic cooling Nv5 (rev.3) cooler to my XFX 6800 (NU) but when i go into the Nvidia settings to view the GPU temps it now reads 50°c core temp and the graph just redlines at the top. The temps dont go up or down when from idle to load like when the std cooler was fitted.

So i guess its not reading the temps properly because before i fitted the the NV5 the temps were reading fine anywhere between 60°c and 75°c.

Any ideas whats wrong?

The NV5 was fitted exactly as per the instructions and the thermal pads are all touching the core and the rams.

Cheers for any help :D

Right have downloaded Everest and run it. (top bit of info there, thanks Tetras  )

It says GPU ambient - 37°c. but that's not the gpu core temp is it?

In the Nvidia settings theres a ambient temp reading and they match in everest, but not gpu core readings in either.

Wheres the gpu core temp sensor on the xfx 6800 NU ?

cheers for any help :D

Emm, I don't have an nvidia 6800 card so I'm not sure, I thought it just showed up along with everything else, providing the sensor exists (I don't get anything on my X1800, only ATI Overdrive in the CCC seems to be able to read it).

So .... that is odd , is it possible you knocked a wire/connector or something on the card? Though I don't think that would have any influence really... I thought the temp sensor was inside the core.

Ok if i loosen the NV5 bolts on the back of the card the temp intermitantly works showing 42°c at idle but then it jumps straight from 42°c to 130+ and then cuts the GPU to 50% power :(

It seems to be something to do with the contact pressure on the GPU core thats causing the temp problem.

Going to try the stock cooler back on it tonight unless any one got any other suggestions.

cheers :D
