this is the overclock I get from mine with it being stable:

is this true because it beats some newer cards on core and memory frequency.
what overclocks do other people get out of their 6800s?

That core overclock is pretty good, but the mem seems a bit low - when I had mine I managed to get 410/910 out of it when it was fully unlocked. Overall thats good so I'd keep with it.

edit ; you might beat nwere cards on numbers for core speed but it is the extrac features that newer cards bring that negate the differance in clock speed.

thats a very good core clock speed. but what sort of 6800 is it? 6800le, 6800nu, 6800gt, 6800gs, 6800ultra, 6800ultra extreme?

is that memory 846mhz before or after ddr?

as said the core speed is good, mine died at 450Mhz lol :p

but you should be able to get abit more out of the memory.
have you modded it at all? (bios mod, volt etc)

my 6800nu fried too, when i did a voltmod on it. did 455 on the core but only lasted like 3 mins then the system shut down and would not power on again until i removed the card.

thats pretty good if its a non-ultra 6800...

I've not overclocked my latest 6800 as its on my 2nd PC that I only play quake 3 on (and do all my music, programming, etc. on) however this card is reputed to be capable of beating a 6800 ultra extreme... this is what "find optimal" got, which ran through 3D Marks 06 without artifacts:

Hehe, I was lucky, I got 467mhz out of my old 6800 GT (Gainward GoldenSample), can't remember what I got on the memory (900+?) But certainly not a bad overclock :D

900 on *** Mem for a GT is slow - I think stock was 1000MHz

its a winfast 6800le I think. should I volt mod it, I've been getting a few freezes in games as of late so I brought down the core speed and its fixed them, should I wack the memory clock up a bit?

Sorry for the OT - Can you link me to your background pic :) Many thanks ;)

erm I can email it to you as an attachment. I cant remember the exact place I got it, I think it was deviantart or something like that.

on topic again please.:

The 6800 series are quite prone to failure when volt modded but some people have run them sucessfully long term modded... if you can afford to replace the card then by all means give it a whirl and see what you get.

In my experience overclocking the memory from stock speeds doesn't make any difference at all until your core is 15-20% faster than its stock.

from experience mate don;t voltmod the card. clock it as high as it can go, use ati tool to test the max core clocks on the card. once you voltmod it won;t last long at all.

That's pretty good. The highest I can get my core (on stock cooling) is 385 - after that I start getting crashes in games and the temps get a bit too high. My mem is at 850 tho - and it could probably go a bit higher.

on my XFX 6800GS XXX Edition I got 525core/1200 memory...maybe even 550mhz on the core...having trouble remembering if it was 525 or 550. The XXX Edition came at 485mhz stock overclock.

Truly an amazing card for the money.

my gainward BLISS 6800 Golden Sample is similiar to your card but comes with a default 450 core 1200 memory, but 550MHz is the top end for overclocking it... anything over 525 starts to artifact when it warms up, so it probably can do 550 with better cooling...
