7600GT, you'd still see a big difference, and there just above £100 at the moment

An ATI X1950pro would almost certainly be your best bet here, a big jump from a 6800gs and just about within the budget.

I'm not so sure, the 6800gs is about equivalent to a 6800gt more or less and the 7600gt is not hugely better than a 6800gt, it does have the edge and can overclock quite nicely but it isn't that much better from what I have seen.

My 6800gs is the xfx version so it run's as fast as a GT straight out of the box.

I think that the ATI X1950pro may be the road to go down here.

Have you tried unlocking the pipes on the 6800GS? That would give you a performance boost for free...

I think that only works with some of the AGP versions and none of the PCI-E versions but I could be wrong.
