6800GT vs X800gto2

Do you have both in front of you?

If so, why not try 3dmark05 with each of them?

Just remembered that the 6800GT should clock to Ultra speeds, negating the difference.

GTO2.

Unlock those pipes, it becomes an XT. :)

do all the unlocking you want, it still won;t end up with shader model 3.0.

the 6800gt is better in the features department. also remember the 6800gt agp can be unlocked in to a QUADRO FX 4000!!!!!!!!!!!

Personally I'd say the 6800GT is the better card, as it's doesn't rely on unlocking for it's speed and as mentioned has a slightly better feature set.

Modded GTO2 @ X850XT speeds > 6800 Ultra in terms of speed.

You mention it doesn't clock well. If core clock is barely exceeding 430-450, you may just find the card is the later blue PCB revision which is just an X800XL. In which case the 6800GT is the better card.

The X850XT was quicker than the 6800 Ultra, in a lot of cases as drivers matured. At least in the past, people moaned about SM3 but the sad fact is, only right now there are some games that won't run at all on a Pre X1000 card due to the lack of SM3.

I guess my vote would be 6800GT. It's quicker out of the box. Especially if the GTO2 doesn't clock well, the GT is definitely the better option.
