On the road....
Hi,

I'm selling my leadtek 6800LE to a friend - He's offered me £80! therefore, the BFG GeForce 7600 GS OC 512MB (AGP) looks tempting for an extra £25! :)

I'm not sure if I'll get any real benefits with it and my current setup though...

My current cpu is an A64 3000+ Sct 939

Gigabyte Nforce 3 Sct 939 mobo with AGP slot (sry forget what model and I'm not near my pc currently. )

I have 1GB 3200 DDR 400 RAM.

I mainly play BF2 (Yes, I know I need 2GB RAM ideally) FS2004, Doom 3 & Mods also, GTR.

Will the above BFG GeForce 7600 GS OC 512MB be well suited to my current setup? also, would I see any noticable improvements over the 6800LE's 128MB RAM? the 7600's 512MB seems almost excessive, I suppose Doom 3 would benefit ?

Many Thanks.

Get the 7600 GT instead

In 512MB format? - A mate tells me I'd benefit greatly from the 512MB in games such as flight simulator 2004 - not sure how true this is though.

No,

Just go for the 256mB 7600 GT

The 7600 GT has DDR3 memory that is much faster then the 512mb GS that has DDR2

DDR3 will clock better.

Better to have faster ram 256mb than slower ram 512mb

Oops, I read it as 7600GT in the first place instead of 7600GS. If you can find a 7600GT 256MB for around the same price then go with what easyrider says, and don't worry about the RAM as 512MB only gives a few FPS increase over 256MB even in resolutions like 2048x1536 with AA/AF. It's 256MB that's important as 128MB is simply not enough anymore.

Have to agree too, better to go for the 7600GT if you want to see a real performance improvement.

The 7600GS wouldnt be that much of an upgrade over the 6800LE, i wouldnt have thought (the 512MB isnt much more use than 256MB ram).

Thanks for the advice guys, I'm probably going to go for the 7600 GT 256 then. :)
