6800nu to X800xtpe - worth it?

Hi my pc is stuggling on a few games at the moment, im running a barton 3200+ with a 6800nu 128mb.
I was wondering if i get a x800xtpe is it worth it and will it run games for a while? Im using a dell 2005fpw so my 6800nu gets crippled in hi-res but manages low res's preety good, will the x800xtpe sort this out?
I really dont want to spend loads of money and get a whole new system with PCI-E gfx.
I can maybe pick up this x800xtpe on the cheap.

It wouldn't make that much difference mate and the X800XTPE wouldn't make a sensible investment. You say you can get an X800XTPE cheap, well you wont from retail but if you mean a friend or soemone has one then that would change things.

The X800 is faster but lack Ps3.0 + VS3.0, dynamic branching, floating point blending for HDR etc.

Have you uncloked and overlcoked your card? You should be able to get a full 16 pipes out of it and overlock it nicely.

Have you tried unlocking the pipes on the NU to see if you can get it near GT speeds?

well i can achieve near 5k in 3dmark 05 - but the card does less than 1fps in hi res with full details - i dont believe this is because the card cant generate the fps but its because it lacks the 256mb ram, but i suppose it might not be worth it if my fps only increases slightly.
