I bought a standard block on release but could not buy a corresponding card. I'm worried that all cards available in the channel will be third party or are some third party cards references friendly? I have checked ekwb website and only standard block was listed as compatible.

As far as i'm aware from the link above, all reference designs uses the same cooler with the knightrider esqe Strip). I also believe AMD mentioned they have discontinued the reference designs now but i could be wrong... so any card which has a custom cooler with fancy looking LED (rather than the knightrider look strip) are custom models.

EK have only released blocks for the reference designs.

Powercolor have release the Liquid Devil specifically for their cards

Alphacool have just released blocks for several AIB (Red Devil, Trio, Sapphire etc)

Bykski have released for AIB too

I don't know of any block which is compatible for both the reference and non reference designs. They are either/or not both

Amd reversed that decision but they are dropping far less frequently. I would generally go card then block for the very simple reason that scenario that op finds themselves in due to current gpu shortages is going to become norm.

Op assume you are out of time for returning the block? If so you could try and sell to recoup costs or hang on for the hope you get a reference card.
