My PC crashed and now on startup I keep getting a 5d error and nothing is displayed on the screen. I've checked that everythings sitting right but it still won't work. I have the 680i board.

This has happened before. I was backing up the computer with the backup program in Vista, the computer crashed halfway through and then I coundn't it it to startup all day (5d error everytime). I then tried it the next day and everything worked fine. This was 4 weeks ago.

The reason it crashed today was becuase I was trying to backup.

Anyone have any ideas as to why it won't startup?

Well 5D is either onboard audio, or Super I/O (Super I/O is usually the Floppy Disk Controller [FDC], PS/2 ports, and any legacy ports such as parallel).

Have you tried disabling the onboard audio and/or the onboard FDC?

Onboard audio was already disabled and the FDC probably was to. Anyway I can't get into the BIOS to do anything. All it does it beeps once nothing is displayed on the screen.

Well I turned on the computer just now and it is working fine again. Just like last time.

Anyone have any idea why? Could it be the BIOS doing it? I've flashed it to the lastest version so hopefully it won't happen again.
