680i Reference Board PCI-E Allocation - Lost 1x Slot when using SLI

Hi All,

I use the Abit PCI-E wi-fi card in the top 1x slot of this board. Since adding a second grfx card for SLI the abit has disappeared. If i remove the second card, it comes back.

Are the pci-e lanes dynamically allocated or is this a bug, bios setting etc? There is nothing in the manual, in fact the manual doesnt even acknowledge the top pci-e slot!

There are only a certain number of PCIe lanes available, but as it has slots for 2 16 lane cards and an 8 lane Physics card, I would have thought a 1x PCIe network card wouldn't have been an issue. Have you tried turning off one or both of the gigabit ethernet ports as those are also PCIe devices and it might free up a lane for the wireless card to use.

I've turned off all of the things im not using, including both NIC's. Makes no difference. Thanks anyway...
