Hello, I have an 8800 GTX which is now updated for games I would like to play. I want to upgrade to a 6850, although I'm afraid my 2.6ghz will bottleneck it.

Answers are appreciated! :D

AMD Opteron 185 2.6GHZ Processor
4GB Ram
Water cooling (Doubt it makes a difference but w.e)
8800 GTX (Runs fine but just cant handle the latest games)
Any more specs then I'll list them, I think my PSU is 600W, decent so that shouldn't be a problem.

wow an Opty, thats some pretty retro tech,

in response to your question, yes i am pretty sure it would bottleneck.

What motherboard do you use? have you ever tried overclocking it?

are you sure its the 8800 bottlenecking your games, i have one in the downstairs PC, and have yet to find a game it wont play (teamed with an athlon X2 @ 3.5ghz)

I've still got (as a third rig) an Opteron 165 @ 2.6Ghz with an 8800GT (not GTX) and that card gets bottlenecked so your GTX is being held back as well. Sticking a modern day AMD 6850 in there isn't going to do much for you.
