Have seen a 7850 in the MM for a decent price so wondering if this would be a good upgrade from my 6850?

I have no idea about the GPU scene at the moment... :(

Cheers

Cheers guys.. Seems the 7850 does a fair bit better compared to the 6850.

My 6850 is by no means struggling but I cant max out Max Payne 3 and newer games.

Seller has the card up for £160 but there may be a bit of room to negotiate.. what do you guys think?

How are the 7850's for OC'ing on air/stock coolers?

I'd have a Google for some reviews from Bit-Tech, Anandtech, Tom's etc. and see how they got on with overclocking as can't speak from experience on this.

You can pick up a brand new one for £180 odd from OCUK so might be room for manoeuvre and you may be able to get something for your current one too.

Having owned asus DC2 versions of both these cards id say its a worthwhile upgrade really. The 6850 struggled to run most my games at 1080p with full settings tbh. It had to be OCd quite highly to just about manage.
The 7850 runs them all very well including battlefield 3 on ultra with AA etc.. turned down.
And thats with an 13 2100 cpu as well. If you have a better cpu it would be even more of an upgrade.
It depends on the resolution your using really. If your using 1080p id say yes go for it.
And they overclock very well too. Dependent on which model you go for. The stock reference cooler cards seems to differ a bit over the custom cooled ones.

I have an Asus DCII 7850, and stock I only get 45fps in battlefield 3, while a GTX570 gets 47fps and a gtx580 gets 55fps

Overclocked to 1220/5500 I get 55-60fps, about the same performance level as a gtx580, I would recommend a 7850
