6850 CF + fallout new vegas... unplayable???

I have no idea what's going on here.
First, it detects my card(s) then suggests "low detail".
Then, it proceeds to shudder it's way through the intro, then crash.

Does anyone have any idea why this could be?

Have you tried other games to make sure it's the game at fault?

Maybe reinstall the game?

Latest drivers?

Patched the game?
