Hello, I was wondering if any of you have come across this.

I have a XFX 6870 1GB, its actually this exact model http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-205-XF&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=1866

I have installed catalyst 12.1, and I'm getting artefacts in windows but usually they do not appear in games...but they do in il2 cliffs of dover, when I'm looking at the map.

First of all, I downloaded 12.1 and simply installed straight over 11.12 without uninstalling.

I was getting artifacts, so I thought, hmmm maybe I should have done a clean install so I uninstalled 12.1, ran driver cleaner and deleted every entry for amd display, then reinstalled 12.1.

I thought this had fixed the issue, but today the artefacts are back.

I am running msi afterburner and the gpu is overclocked - 950 core/1200 mem and is stable after 10 minutes in furmark.

Mobo - Asus P5Q Pro Turbo socket 775
CPU - Q6600 @ 3ghz
RAM - Geil PC 8500 @ 800mhz

Anyone got anything to suggest, I have done a routine google search but I seem to be the only person on the Internet with this problem :(

Thanks guys in advance.

Pretty much the same setup I have there fella. First suggestion would be to default clocks, (I get artifacts on any driver when mem is over 1150) then creep them back up until the problem goes away. If it doesn't go away at all, try another driver.

Are these the official 12.1 drivers? I missed them straight out and went for the beta drivers dated 17/01/2012 available at Guru (there are newer ones than this already).

Edit: Sorry, missed your 2nd post ;)

Thanks Aura, they're the official amd driver.

Seems to be fine now, I'll lower the mem to 1150 like you said if I get the artifacts again. Cheers
