6870/6850 benchmarks (for real)

lol £250 for a 6870, a card looking to be slower than a 5870, may as well buy a 460 and save yourself £80, or a 5850 and clock it. I can't see it at that price even on launch, they want to kill the 460 off, that price won't do it.

Incorrect, I think it will be much the same as the current 5770 for the new 6870.

the new 6970 will be around £350

I totally agree and I hope I'm wrong but my gut is 6870 will be ~£250 at launch.

Hey that's progress, that's a clear £50 cheaper than 5870 at launch! ;)

It bares no relevance to the 5770, it's named differently for a reason as it is in a different performance and price sector. It will compete with the 460 1GB, so expect pricing in that territory, maybe slightly higher at launch.

6870 will be sub £200 and 6850 sub £160 to compete against GTX 470 and GTX 460 respectively. They are lower-cost parts than 58xx series.

Can some please answer
When amd give details next week will they give details of all cards in the 6000 range even if the 5870 and 59 cards replacements aren't out for a month or so after the 6870

Looks like we won't be seeing the 6970's till Dec the earliest then :(

Which has yet to be confirmed.

Jesus was is it with some of you? Random people who you don't know and never met and call themselves journalists upload a story onto the web and you treated like it's gospel.

iirc:

5750 > 6850
5770 > 6870
5850 > 6950
5870 > 6970
5970 > 6990

This is how I see it. I don't see what there is to moan about as their naming sceme has changed. I think near 5850 performance from a 57*0 level card is very good tbh, you've got to wait for the 69** to see what replaces the 5870-5970.

If these figures are right, these cards are going to be WOWZOMG for their price brackets individually :D

When exactly is the 69xx cards gonna be released by the way?

I'm just curious because of there's still no reliable leak of its performance, it kind reminding me of how Nvidia was holding all info on the actual performance regarding the Fermi...

Isn't there a chance that AMD delibrately holding the back the performance info to stop people from buying a GTX480 now, and when 69xx release it turns out 10% faster than GTX480, but at the cost of high core speed with not much overclock headroom left, and costing like £400 comparing to GTX480 at £320?
