Hi,

I've just bought myself a new shiny HIS 6870 :), i went to plug my two VGA monitors into it using two DVI-VGA converters however i cant plug one of these converters into the card. It looks like the DVI port hasn't been made correctly, but ive been on the phone to OCUK and they have said that this is a DVI Dual Link port?

Now my question is how do i go about plugging both of my VGA monitors into this thing?

Here is a pic of what I am going on about

IIRC one is a DVI-I (dual link) which can be used for with a VGA adaptor (as it will output an analogue signal) whilst the other is a DVI-D port which only outputs digital.

You will have to look into a miniDP to VGA adaptor to get the other monitor connected.

Was looking into all of these adapters before for my own AV plans, there is apparently a need for active/powered adapters if using more than 2 displays but I haven't quite got my head around all of that yet, for you with your 2 displays the bay will have passive mini display port to VGA adapters for around £5

When I bought my 6870 it came with an adapter to use on that port. Double check in your box :P

If you're talking about a DVI to VGA adapter then it only works with one of the DVI connections for the reasons explained previously.

Or are you referring to something else?

Apologies, got mixed up with the two types of connections. Mine were different! :p
