Okay guys so here is the problem, the 6870 in my system is just running one monitor atm, my LG 19" W1942S Flatron (1440 x 900) (soon to be a syncmaster B2430L 24" 1920 x 1080) and I was wondering if I could get a second monitor running alongside my primary 19".

I have this LG 19" which im running at the moment and another 19" which also runs the same res but both run on VGA so i have to use a DVI->VGA adapter on the card which i have about 6 of so there is no worry there, however when i tried it before and used both DVI connections the card would not pick up the second monitor at all, does dual have to be run on DVI + HDMI?, DVI + MDP?

Please help me, two monitors can greatly help my work. But when I game I only want the game to show on my primary monitor :P

Only 1 DVI port is DVI-I and so can be used with an adapter for VGA.

The other is DVI-D so is digital only.

You can't connect 2 VGA monitors without a DisplayPort to VGA adapter.

The B2430L has a DVI input so you connect this using the DVI-D port on the 6870 and then connect the LG 19" using a VGA adapter on the DVI-I port on the 6870.

I think I've understood what you want but you'll have to come back if I haven't.

Yeah. Well, when I get my new monitor I can connect that to the DVI-D port and use the adapter on this one to put it into the DVI-I but surely because the DVI-I is the top port that means my 24" will be a secondary monitor and the 19" will still be primary?

Not really. Honestly it doesn't matter which ports they're on, you can always change which is the main monitor in Windows.

Ok guys thanks. I'll be sure to repost or something when i get my monitor sometime next month if i need help :P
