Hey Guys,

I have just upgraded my gfx card and sold my old card to cousin and my father is getting his old 6870, My father has 3 monitors and wanted the 6870 to run eyefinity. I have had an eyefintiy setup for the last 2 years and bought a dp to vga adapter to set up all 3 monitors when I originally had my 5870.

Will my father need to get the same adapter for eyefinity to work or do the newer cards work with 2x dvi and 1 hdmi ? I have a 7950 and I use the dp adapter in my setup now, its this still required with a 7950 or could I give him my adapter ? I appreciate I could just change it about and check but it's spagehetti junction down there and thought it would be easier to ask.

Thanks,

Kev

Unless you are running one of the Sapphire Flex edition AMD cards you will still need to run an active DP to DVI/VGA/HDMI adaptor (on the third monitor) to get Eyefinity working.

What sort of games will your father be playing in Eyefinity? Older games should be fine - Eyefinity support notwithstanding, but newer tiltles will really push a HD6870 beyond breaking point.

Thanks for the reply, I doubt he'll play much games to be honest, last game I saw him playing was DNF. Its more for the extra screen space.
