Ok, I have a sz77r5, currently sporting a 7970. The 500w psu has one 6 pin pci-e cable and one 8 pin. The 7970 isn't powerful enough, and whilst I keep thinking about watercooling it and clocking it further in wondering what's the next best card.

Would it be safe to use a 6 to 8 pin adaptor? Do they exist? Titan isn't powerful enough, doesn't seem to represent good value compared to the 690, but i might be left with no choice.

I could sell the shuttle but i don't really want to. I want to make the most powerful shuttle there is!

Too extreme? I thought such a concept might get some love...wondering if i can use a 2x molex to 8pin pcie adaptor. The 690 seems quite a bit quicker, even though its obviously got quite a bit less vram, but its also cheaper...

I know but if you look at the reviews its fairly consistent in its draw. Most test systems seem to be pulling mid 400w's with a 690 installed, which itself draws 300. I know they recommend 650 as a minimum but it doesn't seem to use that much power.
