My system is as my sig states, R9 280 4460 blah blah blah. I have been offered both an R9 290 and a 690 GTX for £150 each. Which is the better buy? no point in me buying both, just thought it might be nice to upgrade for that type of cash.

Thanks.

290 I believe.

EDIT - scrap that. Didn't realise the 690 was a dual GPU. By the looks of it the 690 has more raw grunt but I guess this works best with supported games and good scaling. What resolution do you game at? Personally I would go with the 290 (though I am biased as I own one :D); less hassle with SLI and scaling plus it has more vRAM.

The 290 is still a decent 1080/1440p card.

690 can give about a 980 performance.

its getting on a bit though.

maybe get a new 480 or 1060 with warranty.slightly slower or about same performance and new and probably cooler.

A 2nd hand 290 for £150 sounds like a lot especially since i have heard of RX480s selling around that price 2nd hand. I would re-negotiate if you can..

Yeah, as others have suggested. Avoid the 690 and either negotiate on the price of the 290 or buy a brand new 4/8gb 480 which will be quieter than the 290.

Also if you buy brand new, you are covered by warranty.
