Okay so i reinstalled CCC and that made no difference at all.

I checked with GPU-Z and my clock speeds and voltages are down when idle.

I checked the fan on 100% (So loud) and it seems fine to me, i also gave it a quick clean but didn't get any dust at all.


Could it be possible that whatever sensor measures the temperate just isn't working properly anymore?

What are the idle clock speeds as shown in CCC or GPU-z?
 
You blown the fan and seen if any dust came out? I give mine a good blow out every 3 months or so

I had to redo the past on my 3870 as the load temps were 100+c, but I had the card for about 4yrs, so I guess the seal had broken between gpu and heatsink, After I had re applied the paste, the load temps were back down into the 70 - 80c area.
