Im thinking about getting a 6950 to xfire with my 6970, i know it should work even if i unlock shaders and oc to 6970 speeds but the only problem i can see is two cards running with different memory timings, anyone eles tried it or should i just stump up the extra £50 for another 6970

6950 & 6970 crossfire

A 6950 will be fine to xfire with the 6970, memory timings won't make any difference. I would save £50 and go for the 6950 and as you said unlock and OC. It's not worth £50 for a tiny increase in performance IMO

Only rev 1 6950's unlock I believe.
