it seems my 6950(70) always has lower usage than my 6990, all at the same clocks. example on dirt showdown with max settings, max AA. my 6950(70) would be at 92%~ and my 6990 would be at 99%.... get about 135 fps~

any idea why?

I don't mean to sound awful but 7 Percentage not being used would concern me if I wasn't getting 60 FPS constantly however you're getting 135?

Maybe a little bit of higher overclock.

that was just a example.... some games the 6950(70) usage is 81%~

overclocking the 6950(70) does nothing... underclocking the 6990 brings the 6950(70) usage up

I think it's just a simple case of balancing between the CPU and graphic card.

You said your are only doing around 135fps, but with the 6950 (6970) not at 100% load...it could simple that your CPU at the current clock speed can only deliver around 135fps max, thus your 6950 (6970) doesn't require 100% load to reach that fps. If you can clock your CPU higher, you would probably see higher GPU usage, as well as with frame rate being closer toward 150fps.

With that said, I don't see there is any actual problem with 135fps, even if you got a 120Hz monitor...as above 120fps it's not gonna make any difference anyway.
