6950 & BFBC2

Hi guys

Im just wondering if anyone else here who plays BFBC2 ever gets a big stutter when joining a server that lasts about 20 seconds and then eveything goes ok ?

The latest ATI ones but iv tried 3 different ones i still get a massive stutter at the start and then it goes ok.

Might be server based lag rather than GPU related, sounds like it to me

I always get that on BF2 when I first join a server

Yup, same card and same initial lag (probably about 5 seconds though not 20!) Not sure what it is but once it does whatever it needs to it runs fine after that and it doesn't bother me too much.

I get that on my GTX460. Its not a GPU fault.

I sometimes get this with my 5850. Like folk have said I doubt its hardware related

I'd hazard a guess at it being punkbuster. I've experienced very similar issues with the cod series + punkbuster over the years.

Thank you for your replys, put my mind at ease now. Iv been thinking something is wrong with my card as when i try to join a server on my other system running a 5850 i hardly get that problem seems all smooth so was figuring the 6950 is better so why is this happening.

Guess its just one of those things

Try disabling antivirus while playing. I've heard of this being caused by av realtime scanning files in the bfbc2 folder as they are loaded

What av if any are you running op?

I get it too - I had heard that if it occurs during the game it's punkbuster taking a screenshot or something like that. To be fair - hasn't done it in a while.

This. Alternatively you should be able to set your AV to exclude/ignore the Documents\BBFC2 folder.

Got Avast so will disable it when i play for now.
